Coppice Farm Primary School

A small school with a HUGE heart!

Sports

In addition to our weekly PE and Games sessions, all children at Coppice Farm also have the opportunity to participate in additional enrichment activities which are designed and aimed at introducing our children to new sports and activities, which build on and / or enhance their curriculum learning.

Staff work alongside Mr Thomas of Next Level Sports in delivering curriculum lessons and these fun and energetic sessions to children across school.

Handball

We cover all different skills that would be used in a game situation such as, passing, moving with the ball, defending tactics, attacking movement and off the ball and shooting at goal. Every week building up our skill level and understanding of the rules and taking them into games and match play.

 Striking Fielding Games

Gymnastics

Covering all aspects of gymnastics starting with basic shapes onto rolls and balances and taking weight on hands( handstand/cartwheels). Using everything that we’ve learnt pupils worked in groups to create and choreograph their own sequences/ routines to showcase what they have learnt to the rest of the class.

OAA: Outdoor adventure activity

We look at team work and team building focusing on what it takes to help your team work efficiently together, using these base skills throughout the weeks to create their own games( making the rules, scoring systems and designing the games). Our communication week is a lot of fun using blindfolds to encourage the children to help their partners through a maze of obstacles without tripping over. The children also look at map reading and designing their own maps of the school to create their own treasure hunt for other members of the class.

Soft Archery

Learning how to hold and accurately aim a bow and arrow at different targets whilst also knowing the safety protocols when around this equipment

Ultimate Frisbee

Learning the different skills and rules for gameplay and taking this into match play and competition towards the end of term

Lacrosse

Learning the different skills and rules for gameplay and taking this into match play and competition towards the end of term , whilst also understanding different tactics for defending and attacking in match play as part of an invasion type game.

Tri Golf

Understanding the rules of Golf and what clubs to use for different types of shots i.e a putter to putt the ball into the hole and why we use that club. We do this by practicing in different type of games like bullseye and jumps and troughs taking all this into creating their own golf course using different pieces of equipment and obstacles around the school.
